Adventure is waiting on the doorstep
Experience all Anglesey has to offer from beautiful Rhosneigr
Surfing and Surfing Tuition
Although the island is mostly suited to assisted surfing, Rhosneigr is one of the best locations on the island to catch a wave. The best surf in the area tends to be during the colder winter months (specifically February), but the waters around Rhosneigr are a great place for newcomers to the sport – and there are some popular guided introductions available.
Rhosneigr beaches generally receive a mix of groundswells and windswells, while the best swell direction is from the southwest and waves at the beach break both left and right.
Dangerous rips are a hazard (albeit low) of surfing here, though even beginners will be within their comfort zone unless they venture quite far from the shore.
Where is it?
Rhosneigr beaches can be reached by taking Junction 5 from the North Wales Expressway, then following the Fford Maelog (A4080) into the village where you can find areas of on-street parking and the centrally located Rhosneigr Pay & Display Car Park (which is found by taking a left from Fford Maelog onto High Street then the first left on to Awel-Y-Mor). Both of Rhosneigr’s main beaches are a short walk from the centre of the village, and there are places to hire equipment and wetsuits within walking distance.
Tuition
Tuition available
Tuition is available for surfers at any level when conditions allow. You can find prices for and details regarding lessons – which range from £25 per person per hour as part of a group lesson or £35 per hour for individual lessons – on the Funsport Surf Shop site linked below.
