About Traeth Llydan

Traeth Llydan (Broad Beach), is Rhosneigr’s second – slightly smaller – beach, but no less lovely, with slightly coarse golden sands, rocky outcrops at either side and dunes at its rear, the beach has an almost wild feel. Despite this feeling, however, the beach is still well situated for a day of family fun and adventure. The beach is also served by the fantastic bar and restaurant The Oyster Catcher, meaning you don’t have to go too far for food and drink.

Like it’s larger neighbout, the incline to deeper water at Traeth Llydan is a smooth and shallow, making it a family friendly beach for swimming at all ages and levels of experience, as well as a host of water sports. There is plenty of public parking in the village, but access to Traeth Llydan will need to be on foot (though it’s only a few minutes walk).

Activities

Most of the activities on offer in the nearby area are at Rhosneigr’s main beach, but as well as The Oyster Catcher, Traeth Llydan is perfect for a number of activities – and shares the larger beaches views of Snowden and ideal sunset location.

  • Swimming: – Traeth Llydan is sandy beach with views of Snowdonia and a shallow gradient meaning you can swim a fair way without getting in over your head. The sheltered location also protects swimmers from the currents, making it ideal for mixed skill groups of swimmers and families.
  • Paddleboarding: – An excellent paddleboarding destination, especially for beginners – for whom it offers a calm and sheltered paddle near the shore, while more experienced SUPers can venture a little further out to challenge themselves against breaking waves.
  • Diving: – With several dive locations of various depths along the coast at Rhosneigr, Traeth Llydan is just one of the excellent locations at Rhosneigr. With guided dives, training courses and, most importantly, a fantastic underwater world filled with magnificent marine life, Traeth Llydan and the beaches around Rhosneigr provide good access at high tide and will leave you wanting more no matter how many back-up tanks you bring!

Location

Traeth Llydan is located on the western coast of the island, on the south side of the village of Rhosneigr, but visitors will find a pay and display car park located less than a mile from the beach – right in the middle of the main amenities which, as one of the most developed areas of the island, includes several restaurants, cafes, an icecream bar and local shops.

Rhosneigr is one of the most popular tourist destinations and traditional seaside locations on Anglesey, so there are plenty of things to do within a short walk. However, Traeth Llydan itself is essentially a wild beach, so you’ll be left with just the incredible views, nature and crystal clear waters as you enjoy the little extra space that this sacrifice earns.

Visitors to Anglesey will find the beach by taking the North Wales Expressway then joining the A4080 to Llanfaelog where it becomes Station Road which will take you to Rhosneigr and straight to the centrally located pay and display car park.
