Lon Las Cefni Scenic Cycleway

Lon Las Cefni is a truly glorious little route which will take you from the edge of Newborough Forest, through Malltraeth and into Llangefni. The path can be joined at a number of locations depending on where you want to start your journey. At Bodfordd, Llyn Cefni, in Llangefni itself or at Malltraeth or Newborough. Parking is available at each of these locations, though for the full ride you’ll need to start at one end or the other (Newborough or Llangefni).

The route is generally flat and the surface is tarmac for the entire route – and mostly well maintained – and though it does feature road sections, large parts are specific cycleways allowing you to be a little more sedate or to stop for birdwatching or to take in the scenery. Helpfully, a little while ago, Visit Anglesey created a useful map of the full route which is useful to have downloaded for the journey.

Where is it?

As mentioned, you can join the cycleway from multiple different locations – though we’ve pinpointed the Llangefni start point as it’s the end with the most nearby amenities. This start point is accessible from Junction 6 of the North Wales Expressway (A55) and A5114 – which takes you in to the town. From the end of the A5114, a right on to Bulkeley Square and the first left on to Church Street takes you to a roundabout – after which is the Dingle Car Park and access to the cycleway.
