The Menai Strait Regattas
The Menai Strait Regattas fortnight is one of the UKs classic summer regatta series. Taking place over a two-week period in late July and early August, and catering for all classes of sailing from dinghies to cruisers, the Menai Strait Regattas sail from various venues in the Menai Straits, with its hub being the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club in Beaumaris. The event sees classic local boats take to the water, but also dinghy racing and a host of other events for a huge range of vessels.
The Regattas can be viewed from most places along the Strait, but the main festivities tend to take place in Beaumaris.
Where is it?
The event is largely based at Beaumaris, home of the Royal Anglesey Yacht Club that originally gave rise to the event and still hosts it to this day. Events can be watched at the Northern end of the Strait, though other venues all along the Strait are included – right up to Caernarfon at the Southern end. We’ve pinpointed the yacht club itself as the map marker, however, which can be reached by taking the A545 (Beaumaris Road) from the suspension bridge (or the A5 then A545 from the Britannia Bridge).
Opening times
The Menai Strait Regattas are raced over the fortnight in late July to early August.
