Stone Science Museum

Housing one of the largest fossil collections in Wales, along with dioramas showing how the Earth developed through the ages and how dinosaurs evolved and became extinct. There are also collections of thousands of minerals and crystals – and even Native American arrowheads and weapons. Especially for families with children, many of the exhibitions are interactive – and there are also video presentations for both children and adults to enjoy.

Opening in 1989, The Stone Science Museum has become a firm favourite of visitors to the island. Stone Science makes is an excellent family day out and is conveniently located just a couple of miles from Anglesey’s east coast – which is famously rich in fossils, meaning you can take the children fossil hunting to further capture their newfound love of the subject.

Where is it?

Stone Science Museum is located between the villages of Pentraeth and Talwrn and can be rached by following the A5025 all the way to the village of Pentraeth, then turning left onto Ffordd Talwrn (B5109) at the village square before following the road for about a mile and a half – Stone Science is located on the left hand side of the road. While there’s not much in the immediate vicinity, you are only a few miles from Red Wharf bay, Pentraeth and Benllech, making it an easy way to spend a morning before heading to the beach.
