The Isle of Anglesey is a foodies paradise with there being plenty of Michelin recommended restaurants and Tripadvisor topping eateries just waiting to be sampled.

Even the pub meals in Anglesey are exceptional if you choose the right venue. We’ve used our local knowledge to put together a list of what we consider to be the very best pub food in Anglesey so that you can arrive on your holiday at the Driftwood Boutique Guest House well prepared for your time away.

The Oyster Catcher – Rhosneigr

Rhosneigr itself is a bit of a hotspot for highly recommended pubs and restaurants. The Oyster Catcher is perhaps the most famous of these and is certainly not your traditional Welsh pub.

In reality it is primarily a restaurant but it is also open as a drinking establishment and listed on The Good Pub Guide as a result. In fact, Will’s Bar serves an excellent selection of craft ales and is without question worth a visit independently of the restaurant.

The food is equally as well regarded with the kitchen being staffed by aspiring young chefs who are looking to make a name for themselves in the food industry. You can sample their creations before they become famous with the menu featuring many of the traditional gastro pub favourites.

The Bull’s Head Inn – Beaumaris

First opened in the 15th century, the Bull’s Head Inn in Beaumaris is the only pub in Anglesey that is recommended by The Good Pub Guide. It is a Grade II listed building and is situated just a stone’s throw away from Beaumaris Castle.

Alongside its collection of cask ales, speciality beers and seasonal cocktails, it serves some of the best pub food in Anglesey. Their famous dry-aged Welsh beef burger with bacon jam and smoked cheddar is a particular treat, but vegetarian diners are also catered for.

The outstanding views make The Bull’s Head Inn even more noteworthy with the mountains of Snowdonia and Menai Strait both visible from the venue.

The White Eagle – Rhoscolyn, Holyhead

The White Eagle in Rhoscolyn underwent a significant redevelopment back in 2007 when it was purchased by the Tipson family. CEO Alex Tipson set out to create his dream pub and the White Eagle is certainly a step above the local competition. Perhaps its most famous feature is the magnificent beer garden where you can take in stunning sea views.

Diners in the restaurant can sample a traditional British menu made using only the very best local ingredients. With meat from an award winning butchers and oysters caught fresh from the Menai Strait, The White Eagle offers some of the best pub meals in Anglesey which can be enjoyed by all the family.
