Sosban & The Old Butchers

On the east side of the island, at the heart of Menai Bridge – in the premises historically home to a butcher’s shop – giving the restaurant its full name Sosban & The Old Butchers. A Michelin Starred restaurant also boasting four AA rosettes, Sosban is not only one of the best restaurants on the island, but one of the best in the country.

Serving a surprise menu using locally sourced produce on the day, Sosban is an exclusive, intimate venue that – according to its Michelin review – provides ‘boldly flavoured modern dishes with original, personal touches, which demonstrate an innate understanding of cooking techniques and flavour combinations.’ Booking is required to get a table at this phenomenal restaurant where dinner is priced at £175 per person.

Where is it?

An unassuming exterior you could blink and miss hides a chic and exclusive restaurant just a short journey from the Menai Suspension Bridge. The restaurant also benefits from being a short walk from several small carparks – Maes Bulkeley Car Park, Parcio Llys Menai and Wood Street Car Park being the closest (in that order). The restaurant, thanks to its location in what has become a thriving University town and dining destination, also has plenty of nearby places to grab a drink before or after – and is a stroll away from the promenade if you need a walk after what is often referred to as a food experience more than a meal.
