In an age where conscious eating has taken the culinary world by storm, the rise of vegetarian eateries stands as a testament to our ever-evolving palates and principles. As more people choose plant-based diets for reasons ranging from animal welfare and environmental concerns to health benefits, the pubs, cafes and restaurants in Anglesey have responded in kind. Gone are the days when vegetarian dining on the island meant limited choices.
Today, an array of world-class vegetarian establishments offers a symphony of flavours, pushing the boundaries of what it means to eat green. Whether you’re a lifelong vegan, a vegetarian, a flexitarian or just veggie-curious, the island offers a range of options to satisfy your appetite. Let’s dive into some of the best vegetarian places to eat in Anglesey.
Note: As restaurants and cafes can change their menus or close, it’s always recommended to check their current offerings and opening times before visiting.
Best Vegan Cafe In Anglesey
Green Olive (100% Vegan) – Menai Bridge
Whether you fancy breakfast, lunch or an early tea that’s 100% vegan, The Green Olive in Menai Bridge is the perfect place to go (unless it’s Wednesday or Thursday – when they don’t open). This all-vegan cafe serves amazing vegan food with friendly service. The menu is innovative and interesting and lists items as ‘NGCI’ when the items do not have gluten-containing ingredients, but can’t guarantee them.
Breakfast options include the intriguing carrot cake porridge, bacon (tofu) banana pancakes and a full breakfast. For lunch, there’s the delicious katsu curry, soup of the day or shitake and butterbean stew. For those looking for something a little more filling, how about a mouthwatering burger or hotdog – with fascinating names like a jammy-dog-dger and Mac Daddy you might have to visit a few times to try them all! The place gets amazing reviews from me, Tripadvisor and Facebook.

Oyster Catcher – Rhosneigr
Though famed for its seafood, the Oyster Catcher has made a conscious effort to cater to vegetarians and vegans. They have gone to great lengths to indicate which meals are suitable for vegetarians and which ones are plant-based. At the time of writing the menu offers white bean hummus with pitta bread, nicoise salad and katsu cauliflower burger. Also on the menu is za’atar squash, falafel and Pembrokeshire organic halloumi salad – which I’m looking forward to trying next time.
Anglesey’s vegetarian culinary scene is vibrant and ever-evolving. As awareness grows and tastes refine, more and more places are embracing vegetarian and vegan offerings. This list of the best vegetarian restaurants in Anglesey doesn’t claim to be exhaustive and many pubs, cafes, chippies and takeaways have vegan or vegetarian options.
