As we welcome the month of August, the island of Anglesey becomes a hub of activity and excitement. From adventures in the great outdoors to cultural heritage explorations and foodie delights, there’s something for everyone. There are always plenty of things to do around the island but here’s our guide to what’s on and special things to do in Anglesey in August.
August – What’s On In Anglesey
There are several exciting events happening in Anglesey in August.
2023 Menai Strait Regattas
The Menai Strait Regattas take place over a fortnight in late July to early August. Set on the beautiful waters of the Menai Strait, the racing involves classic boats like the Fife OD, Mersey Mylne OD, and Conway OD, as well as Cruisers and Dinghies in handicap fleets. The main hub of the event is Beaumaris at the Northern end of the Strait, but other venues along the waterway, including Caernarfon at the Southern end, are also part of the regattas.
Date: Monday 31st July to Saturday 12th August.
Mewn Cymeriad – Owain Glyndwr Ble Mae o?
A satirical comedy, for the whole family, full of revelry and political tensions. Come and enjoy, and learn about the bloody and raucous battles of the 1400s.

Nick Harper
Nick Harper, a renowned musician, is set to return to Anglesey for an open-air concert. This event will be held at the community cafe garden, Caffi Siop Mechell, with support from local bands, The Darvells and Y Cefn Glas Allstars. This gig promises to be an exciting experience for music lovers in the region.

Menai Food Festival
The Menai Food Festival, organized by the same company as the Beaumaris Food Festival, takes place over two days in Menai Bridge. This year’s event promises more food & drink producers, craft stalls, street food stands, live music, and a mini funfair for kids.

St David’s Hospice Anglesey Dawn Walk
Rise and shine for a five-mile walk, taking in the beautiful Anglesey Coastal Path and Penrhos Nature Reserve in aid of St David’s Hospice.

Dog Fest
DOG FEST is a popular event is hosted by Plas Llanfair and features food, drinks, coffee, and local Ynys Môn craft stalls. Attendees are invited to enjoy the day, with on-field parking available.

Anglesey County Show
The Anglesey County Show is returning on the 15th and 16th of August 2023, offering rural attractions, food, crafts, and family fun including a fairground, face painting and magicians.

From The Shadows Of Stones’ Cadw’s Summer Dome Experience
Visitors can fly across Wales whilst watching a stunning showcase of Cadw sites in their pop-up immersive dome, and then follow a trail of photospherical sculptures at Cadw sites across Wales. The immersive dome will feature a newly commissioned film, entitled ‘From the Shadows of Stones’, which showcases the very best of Cadw’s heritage sites, from abbeys and castles to burial chambers using the latest high-definition 360° capturing technology.

Beach Club
Funsport, the local surf shop in Rhosneigr runs a beach club for children aged between 8 and 13. Its a great way for young groms to burn off some energy and learn a new watersport.
Greenwood Family Park
Not far from the island is this amazing eco-friendly theme park. Ride on a roller coaster powered by humans, take the solar-powered watershoots and play on wooden climbing frames and so much more. Voted North Wales’s best attraction.
