Cors Bodeilio National Nature Reserve

Cors Bordeilio is an area that has been named an ‘internationally important wetland’ and is teeming with wildlife. Maintained by Natural Resources Wales, the fen is great for views, and the chance to spot some of the incredible wildlife and wildflowers in spring and summer.

Cors Bodeilio is a wetland area without forest cover, making it unique and causing it to be dominated by living, peat-forming plants; with mineral-rich water draining from the surrounding limestone the area has the perfect conditions for a host of rare plants, animals and wetland birds.

Linked below you can find information on a couple of signposted walks in the area – both fairly sedate and short, but equally worth a couple of circuits to take everything in.

Where is it?

Take the North Wales Expressway (A55) towards Holyhead until Junction 8, taking the A5025 before (right at the end of the slip road) and following the signs towards Benllech. You can follow this (Pentraeth Road) for about 5 miles until you reach the village of Pentraeth. In the village, turn left at the traffic lights, taking Fford Talwrn (signposted to Llangefni). Take the first left towards the school and follow this narrowing road (becoming Bron Ffinan) for just over a mile and the car park is on your right.
