Pentraeth to Red Wharf Bay (Traeth Coch) Walk

There are several ways to walk between Red Wharf Bay and Pentraeth forest – and around each. With coastal sections overlooking Ref Wharf Bay and sections which will take you through Pentraeth forest, there is the opportunity to take in some of the island’s fabulous views and wildlife as you walk, run or cycle for anything from a couple of miles to a dozen.

One of the many routes is outlined in the linked PDF below, put together by Visit Anglesey, which begins and ends in Pentraeth and takes in sections of both coast and forest. The guide provides written instructions and a map to take you on a circular walk that will show you Anglesey’s east coast at its finest.

Where is it?

You can begin at any point on the route, but we’ve signposted the start point set out in the Visit Anglesey PDF – and that’s Pentraeth Car Park on Brick Street, Pentraeth. You can reach the village by taking the A5025 (Pentraeth Road) directly from the North Wales Expressway, or via Mona Road from the suspension bridge – this will take you all the way to the village and the car park. From there you can follow the brown and white signs (next to the information boards at the car park entrance) for ‘Cylchdaith “Dona” Circular walk’ or make sure you download a copy of the walking guide to help keep you on track.
